"Coming to school is a release for for me. It's my happy place. I'm able to shut the lid on my little box of problems and forget all my worries." Janis Knuckols, Art teacher
Jay Knuckols, Mrs. Knuckol's son, has been persevering for the last 5 years. He was diagnosed with liver disease and has been on a waiting list for the last 2 years to get a liver transplant. Essentially, his life is on hold, aided by intravenous antibiotics, severe abdominal pain, headaches, frequent infections and multiple trips to Texas Children's Hospital. This is just a small glimpse into the life that he lives daily. Imagine having to see your child hurt? Laying on the floor by his bed at night, sleepless, praying for the phone to ring with good news that a liver is on its way. "We are all trying to focus on the light at the end of this tunnel and also the points of light along the way with the incredible people helping us and praying for us."
We might all go dim at times, burdened with problems, yet life is a gift. Wake up every day and realize it. We can learn by example from The Knuckols Family, find the points of light along the way!
Please visit Texas Children's website and follow Jay's CarePage. They are hoping to be out of the hospital by Saturday.
Happenings at Jane Long
November 11, 3:00…mark it on your calendars! It is the moment you have ALL been waiting for. That’s right…it is an Office 365 Overview with Paul Wagner.
Waterford is up and running! We have our students using it in our classrooms and in our labs in the morning. 1st Grade has completed their first week of 7:15 am Waterford lab sessions in the B2 lab. 2nd Grade will start 7:15 am Waterford sessions on Monday.
Thank you all for your time spent preparing for parent conferences this week and meeting with families. This is a monumental undertaking and TIME well spent. Many parents TRULY appreciate what you do for their children. Lots of parents fight and bend the rules to get their children into our school and that's because of YOU and your teaching. Jeans for the week. You are appreciated!
How many of you have done the same thing as Mrs. Z? I'm going to blame it on DEVOLSON. (Dark, Evil Vortex of Late September, October and November.) Maybe the time change and the lighter mornings will help Mrs. Z pick out shoes that match!
- This is a voluntary training. It is not mandatory. I do believe, however, that you will all find it extremely valuable, especially if it is new to you.
- If you are using it already, you may still hear some great tips and tricks.
- It will be a 30-minute introduction/overview in the library. I will be available afterward for another 30 minutes to an hour in case anyone wants to go further with it. After the 30 minutes we will move to the lab so that you can actually get in and play with Office 365.
